In conjunction with their parents, Ashia Cavaness and LaKendrick Woods are pleased to announce their engagement and forthcoming wedding.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Sherrie and Shay Gillespie of Monticello and Dwight, Sr. and Alma Cavaness of Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of Henry and Vera Suber of Monticello and the late Nat and Lovella Cavaness of Monticello. She is also the granddaughter of Calvin and Merva Collins of Coleman. Ashia is a 1995 graduate of Monticello High School. She is currently employed as a certified coding specialist at Drew Memorial Hospital. She is also a part-time employee of Head of the Class Childcare & Learning Center of Monticello. She is an active member of the Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church of Wilmar.
The prospective groom is the son of Worthy Woods and the late Lamar Woods of Portland, AR. He is the grandson of Hazel Woods and the late James Woods of Portland. He is also the grandson of the late William Caldwell, Sr. and Hazel Caldwell of Eudora. LaKendrick is a 1998 graduate of Hamburg High School. He is currently employed by the Armstrong Flooring Mill of Warren. He serves as a deacon at the New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Portland.
The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, May 24 at 3:00 p.m., at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Monticello. A reception honoring the couple will be held immediately following the wedding, at the Sadie T. Johnson Community Building in Jordan Park.
No additional invitations will be sent, but all family and friends are invited to attend.
The couple is registered at Walmart and Dillard’s.
