Local United Way Representative Recognized by Governor

Kristi Davis, the local United Way representative for Drew county, was recently appointed to the governors advisory commission for service and volunteerism, by governor Asa Hutchinson.

She was sworn in by Judge Robert Akin.

15 Initiatives / Referendums Won’t be Counted on Nov. 8 Election Ballot

Monday there was a hearing at the County Courthouse, questioning the legality of the 15 proposed initiatives & reverendums that had received signatures, to be decided by local voters, at the general election, November 8.

Hearing updateA group of local business and community leaders had filed a lawsuit to question the legality of each of the proposed issues, which was to be decided by Circuit Judge Don Clover.  The defendants were listed as the county and city clerks, and the county election commission.

5 Traffic Deaths in Drew County, since September 5

IMG_85222 Warren men died at the scene of a rollover crash on Highway 278 E., on Monday, September 5, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and they were ejected.

On Friday, September 9, a local lady died from injuries she sustained, when she turned in front of an 18 wheeler, on 425 N. in Monticello.

Monday, September 19, a Drew County man was killed on 425 S., near the race track, when he crossed the center line, striking an oncoming vehicle.

Monday night, a 32 -year-old pedestrian was struck by a car and finally injured, on 425, south of UAM.

Fatality Wreck on 425 South

traffic fatalityA 63 year old Drew County man lost his life in a 2 vehicle, head-on collision, on Highway 425 South, near the old racetrack, at 5:44, Monday evening.

Everyone has heard, “my vote really doesn’t count.”

In the current school board election, where early voting is being held until 4:30, your vote really doesn’t count.  Early voting began, Tuesday, with 29 votes cast, as of noon, today.
