Playing with partner Ted Flach from Venice, FL and teammates Mavis Warren and Janelle Frusha from Houston, TX, Lowell Lynde won the Flight 1, Bracketed B teams event at the Gatlinburg, TN regional on April 17, 2016.  Teams in this bracket held from 9000 to 12000 masterpoints.  The Gatlinburg Regional is the largest regional bridge tournament in the world hosting over 8000 tables during the tournament and players from around the world.

Southbound traffic on HWY 425 N. in front of the Marketplace, is detouring through their parking lot, due to a wreck blocking both southbound lanes the roadway.

Friday, Mayor Zack Tucker signed a proclamation ordering the Flag of the City to be placed at half-staff in memory of City Alderman, and local dentist, Tim Chase who passed away Friday.

Dr. Chase’s funeral service will be held today.

Found: Small dog on Hwy 35- E.

Call 870-723-3955, describe and identify.

Sunday morning, before 8 AM, Monticello dispatch received a phone call reporting a “impaired driver” fueling up a work truck at the Valero on HWY 425 North.

A Monticello Police officer responded, made contact with the driver, noted her jerky movements, and discovered she was driving on a suspended license.

Landon Calhoun recently celebrated his 8th birthday. He asked for dog food to help feed the dogs being fostered by Monticello 2nd Chancefurdogs volunteers instead of gifts.

As you can see, his friends and family obliged.

Landon is the son of Monica Calhoun and Jay and Leah Maples.

Tuesday was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, for the newly renovated Monticello senior citizen center at McCloy park. The center was newly renovated, to meet the needs of Monticello’s older residents, providing meals and activities.

According to Lt. Jason Akers of the 10th Drug Task Force, were investigating a suspicious vehicle at Jordan Park in Monticello, around noon, Wednesday. (more…)

The section of Meadowview Drive, commonly known as “Western Pines Dip” is now open for traffic, and is no longer a small spillway.

The change was made to improve drainage, as well as to reduce driver complaints.

AHTD  is working on shoulder and curb maintenance on Highway 425 S., this afternoon.

Please be aware,  as you’re traveling in that area, of the lane closure.

Saturday afternoon, around 1 PM, 2 subjects on East Jackson got into a verbal altercation over a street or parking area being blocked.

A short time later, the altercation led to shots being fired by both parties, with one subject being shot, on Merryde Drive.

“The Youth Minister of the Year Award was created in 2003 to honor individuals who have been outstanding in their service to young people through the youth ministry of the United Methodist Church in Arkansas.

Lori Fallon is a life-long United Methodist, who grew up in a small rural town in central Louisiana. Her career in the church launched when she completed a Disciple course, and soon after began working in the youth program at First United Methodist Church
