It was Fan Appreciation Night at Drew County Speedway. The weather was nice and cool for the evening’s festivities and the crowd was treated to nine exciting feature races. The night marked the return to the track of the winged mini-sprint cars, a fan favorite.
In addition to the races, the fans got a chance to walk on the track and get autographs and take pictures with their favorite drivers during intermission. The speedway also honored it’s track champions during this time with the awarding of their trophies. Each race, drivers accumulate points based upon their finishing position and the driver with the most points at the end of the season is crowned track champion.
This year’s winners are…………

It was billed as a three-state battle between Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi but it was a teen-aged Texan who stole the show! Tyler Townsend of Longview, Texas drove to the $2000 victory. He also set fast time and overcame the invert that started him 4th in the first heat to win it and the pole position for the 30-lap feature event.

T0night is the final point race for the season and all classes will be racing. Many of the classes is, your guess is good as mine as to who might have the bragging rights as champion.
You don’t won’t to miss some of the exciting finishes that these tight races will produce.
We will also have a powder puff and mechanics race and the Main event will be a 30 lap Outlaw Street Stock $600 to win Feature race.

The racing the stands were full Saturday, August 6th at Drew County Speedway. Church buses lined the parking lot as many members of local church congregations filed in to see their church leaders participate in the Faster Pastor Race. Additionally, many fans came out to support their favorite media personality in the Mouth of the South Media Race. You add these specialty races to the eight regular classes that ran heat and feature races and race fans got their fill of local racing after a two-week hiatus.
Jerry Ebert of Monticello Christian Church & Mission took home top honors in the 2011 Faster Pastor Race. Bragging rights in the area media goes to Jimmy Sledge of KHBM and Pines Broadcasting as he grabbed the checkered flag in the Mouth of the South Media Race.
A full schedule of racing will be on tap Saturday September 3rd with all classes on the race card except the Street Stock division. Races will be highlighted by a 30 lap feature race for the Super Street Class with a $500 payout to the winner.

Here’s the result from August 27th:
FASTER PASTOR
Sandy Erlanson (Chief Deputy Circuit Clerk) and her husband Ray (Circuit Court Bailiff) have a good reason to be “proud grandparents”. Their 19 year old granddaughter, Ashlee Lancaster, is getting an opportunity that most people can only dream of.
Today, Ashlee is participating in a NASCAR event. The “Drive for Diversity” is a NASCAR scouting event, where 8 of the 25 participants will be signed to NASCAR development contracts.
The weather was great for another exciting night of racing at Drew County Speedway, Saturday. Over 80 cars hit the track to entertain the second largest crowd of the year.
All classes were on the race card making for a full night of dirt track racing. The highlight of the evening was the ADCRA Mod-Lite and Dwarf cars. These mini-cars always put on a good show. This was only the second time this year for the ADCRA series to visit Monticello this year.
Drew County Speedway will take a one week hiatus and not race the weekend of July 16th. The track will be back in action on the 23rd of July with a full schedule of racing with all classes on the race card,
