The Monticello Jr. High Billies defeated Warren by a final score of 20-16, at Monticello’s Hyatt Field, Thursday night.

At half-time, the Monticello Billies were leading the Vilonia Eagles by a score of 13-3.  2 Billies turnovers kept the Eagles in the game.  The first turnover by the Billies led to the lone VIlonia score, a field goal.

Former Monticello Football Coach Johnny McMurry, who was the head coach when the Billies went undefeated and won the state championship in 1994, has been hired as a new assistant coach under Van Paschal.

Tonight, the Monticello Senior Billie Football team will take on Dumas at home. The game will be on Hyatt Field at 7pm. This game is a AAA benefit game for the injured players fund in Arkansas.

The Monticello Sr. Billies played their yearly Blue & White Game, an inter-team scrimmage, at Hyatt Field, Fridiay night.

The team avoided heavy contact, but did perform a wide variety of play selections for the Billie Blue Fans.

The Jr. Billies Cheerleaders held a  MEET THE PLAYERS Pep Rally, Thursday, at the City Park Pavillion
The coaches, the Jr. Billies (8th and 9th grade teams), the cheerleaders, the spirit squad, and the band helped kick off the Jr. Billies season.

Last night at the boxing match, I visited with Monticello Billies Coach Van Paschal, and asked to interview him for tonight’s One Monticello Life.  He agreed, and I learned a lot about Coach Paschal during our conversation, this afternoon.

The score of the first game may have been 10-4, but reporter was hindered by scoreboard difficulties.

The Monticello Sr. Billies Girls soccer team lost to Arkadelphia Thursday night by score of 7-0.

The Sr. Billies Boys team also lost to visiting Arkadelphia, 8-2.

The Billies goals were scored by Max Sawyer in the 1st period, and Tim Martin in the 2nd period.

Monticello is hosting the 5A Southeast Arkansas Junior Basketball Tournament.
Play begins Saturday, Feb 9th with the following games.

Tonight’s the night of the Monticello High School Football banquet and presentation of awards.
The event is being sponsored by the Football Booster Club and will be held at the High School Cafeteria.
