According to Drew County Clerk Nancy White, Monday was the first day of non-partisan municipal filings, for city offices.

The filing period will continue through May 23, at noon.

Offices available during this time include Mayor, City Council, city attorney, and city clerk.

Drew County Clerk Nancy White confirmed that Bart Gregory was the first candidate to file on the first day of non-partisan municipal filings, for city offices.

Gregory filed as a candidate for Mayor of Monticello

The filing period began Monday, and will continue through May 23, at noon.

Offices available during this time include Mayor, City Council, city attorney, and city clerk.

The second candidate to file, yesterday, was incumbent city attorney Whit Barton.

Political ad paid for by the committee to reelect Judge Robert Akin.

Akers has been in public service as a law enforcement officer for over 28 years, where he currently serves as Chief of Police in Monticello.

While at Monticello PD, Chief Akers has led with a proactive and progressive approach. Akers implemented the Department’s first policy and procedure manual, written/skills testing for hiring and promotions to ensure fairness and led Monticello to having one of the few state accredited police departments.
