Former UAM Chencellor Jack Lassiter updated the group on the status of the proposed convention center.

MONTICELLO’S ANSWER TO THE FIRST AMENDED COMPLAINT AND COUNTERCLAIM AND ADDITION OF COUNTER-DEFENDANT, as submitted to the US District Court, in response to SEIMENS recent federal lawsuit against the The City of Monticello, the city’s special attorney, Cliff Gibson, has answered SIEMENS’ lawsuit against the city.
Last Tuesday, Siemens and the City of Monticello met in Little Rock in an attempt to mediate hte situation, to avoid a lawsuit, by reaching a compromise.
It appears that on the way out of town, Siemens filed that lawsuit in the U.S. Eastern District Curt.
A Public Involvement Meeting will be held on Thursday, April 30th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m at the MEDC office.
The format of the meeting will be come and go. Outcomes from the 2007 Strategic Plan will be shared and participants will be asked to share opinions of the 2007 outcomes as well as give input on goals and objectives for the 2015 plan.
Attorney Cliff Gibson, hired last year to represent the City of Monticello’s best interest in the ongoing “water improvent project” with Siemens, has recently released the latest in a series of letters between Gibson & Keith and the firm representing Siemens.
The City Council approved Mayor Zack Tucker’s plan to begin reducing the city’s ongoing battle against residential flooding.

In a special called meeting Wednesday evening, January 7, the Monticello City Council passed a resolution to reject the bids submitted for economic development services on November 21, 2014; to declare economic development services as professional services; to authorize the publication of requests for qualifications for economic development; and to extend the current “contract” with Monticello Economic Development Commission to February 28.
The City Council held a special called meeting 6 pm, Wednesday, January 7, for a vote to authorize special legal council to pursue mediation with Siemens, Inc., in order to dissolve the City’s contract with the company and to recover from Siemens damages and the City’s $7 million dollar financial investment in the water rehabilitation project.
