“Battle of the Bats” was the name of the fastpitch softball game, Thursday night, between the Monticello Girls 12 U “Knockout” State Champs and the Monticello Boys 12 U Mo-Town Strokers (winners of the Gold Ring Classic)

The boys won the first game 3-2 and the second gane 6-2.

The game was a fundraiser for the Monticello Knockouts.

The local youngsters just competed in the State Tournament in Little Rock, placing 5th out of 43 teams.

On Saturday Triple C Ranch was not to be denied though. They won the next 4 games to win the championship. Their first game on Saturday was against Clearview Glass with that score of 7-2, Triple C advanced to the next round game against the same Cox Trucking team. This time Triple C won the score of 8-3. By virtue of the winning, Triple C was in a must win situation against a Mr. Bug team that had won their previous 2 games. In the first game Triple C won a slugfest 13-10. Finally making it into the last game of the day the same teams played for the championship. Battling fatigue from playing 3 games in secession, Triple C jumped out early and often for a final score of 14-6.

Arkansas serves over 150 leagues of community based youth baseball. Three international Babe Ruth League Board members, James Wagoner, Jim Hill, and Joe Featherston, the Southwest Regional Commissioner, were also present at the meeting.

North Syracuse's Pilotti's game-winning 3 run homer in the final inning gave New York the victory in the World Series final.

While trailing 4-3 in the top of the final inning with 2 outs, North Syracuse centerfielder Pilotti hit a 3 run home run to take the lead away from Saginaw Valley, MI and put New York ahead 6-4.

N. Syracuse added another run before the inning ended, and that’s how the game ended, with a 7-4 final score

Saginaw Valley, MI vs N. Syracuse, NY in World Series Final, Tonight at Burlington Field

Saginaw Valley, MI defeated Bryant, AR 8-2 to move on to the final game of the World Series.

North Syracuse, NY scored 9 runs in the 4th inning to help defeat Greenvill, NC by a final score of 11-3.

The final World Series game will be played at 5:30 this afternoon at Burlington Field.

World Series Continues at Burlington Field, 4 Teams Remain

Bryant scored the winning run with a walk-off hit in the 8th inning, Wednesday against Stamford, CT, to advance to the semi-finals.

Monticello Out of World Series, after 10-3 Loss to Stamford, CT

allowed both to score (Shirey shown here) on a hit by Griffin, tying the game in the 1st inning.

With a 10-3 loss, Tuesday night, Monticello was eliminated from that 2010 World Series.

With their second loss, Monticello becomes one of four teams that are tied with a 2-2 record, but only 2 of those four teams can advance to Wednesday’s games.

The National Babe Ruth organization considered the appropriate tie-breaker policies and the division winners are N. Syracuse, NY, and Saginaw Valley, MI.

Stamford, CT, Bryant, AR, Waite Park, MN, and Greenville, NC also remain in the single elimination tournament.

Kameron Griffin scored Monticello's 1st run in Monday's game after getting on base with a single.

Monticello scored a total of 5 runs, scattered across 3 separate innings, but were still 1 run short, as they lost to Waite Park, MN, Monday evening by a 6-5 margin.

Monticello’s final game in the pool play portion of the tournament will line them up across the field from the New England regional champion, Stamford, Connecticut, in a game was postponed due to a Sunday afternoon rain delay, and has been re-scheduled to start around 8 pm.

MIS student, Mason Davis, threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Opening Cermonies of the World Series, Saturday.

The Monticello 13-15 year old team will put their 2-0 mark on the line at Monticello’s Burlington Field, against the  Waite Park, Minnesota team (Midwest Plains Regional Champion) around 5:30, Monday evening.

Monticello was scheduled to have played the New England regional champion Stamford, Connecticut, but  that game was postponed due to a Sunday afternoon  rain delay, and will be re-scheduled for the last game of the day Tuesday, and is estimated to start around 8 pm.

Monday’s schedule of games will remanin unchanged, and Tuesday’s games will be moved up one hour with the first game now set to start at 10 am, instead of 11.

Pool play ends Tuesday, and 6 of the 12 teams will go home, then.  The remaining 6 teams will enter a single loss elimination tournament, which will name the 13-15 year old 2010 Babe Ruth World Series Champion.

World Series – Monticello Over Torrance, CA, 7-6

Aaron Goad scored the first of 2 runs on Cole Connelley's 5th inning double, to tie the game. Connelley also drove in the first run in the top of the 7th inning, followed by 3 more Monticello runs to pull out a 7-6 victory

 

An out at 3rd base in the 1st inning help reduce the Torrance, CA scoring to only 1 run in that inning..
