Car Drives into Western Sizzlin’, 3 Customers Injured

February 23rd, 2010 by

Just before noon Monday, the driver of the vehicle shown here was attempting to park outside of Western Sizzlin’, and reportedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal of the car.

The car then crashed through the wall and window of the restaurant, injuring 3 customers while they were eating their lunch.

Two of the injured customers were taken by ambulance to Drew Memorial; the third was being transported by personal vehicle.

Monticello police, fire & rescue, Drew County sheriff’s deputies, and Arkansas State Police responded to the scene.

  3. cj says:

i hate this…….i hope everyone is gonna be ok.

  4. jenni says:

I was there. It was a very scary experience, but not the first for Western Sizzlin. It happened 6 years ago in the front dining room. Thankfully that time, no one was hurt. Both times, it was an awful noise and stuff went flying. At first, someone said there was a person under the car today, but I dont think there was. It was absolutely terrifying. I was shaking the entire way back to work. I hope everyone gets better soon. And I hope the lady and her husband in the car are ok. they look terrified too!

  5. Tammy Van Houten says:

My husband and I were there and the car missed us by 1 table. I have pictures of the accident on my facebook page actually.

  6. Just another Reader says:

Is praying for the family, hope they are ok.

  7. another_random_person says:

this is a stereotype, but by the looks of the car it was probably an old person.

  8. doc says:

The age of a person and their ability to control their vehicle is two different things. Younger people have had a ton of wrecks lately due to inabilityto control their vehicle.

  9. joseph says:

amen doc.dont bash old folks as last few years most fatality’s have been teenagers which is so bad to loose our youth.

  10. Kayla says:

another_ random_ person that was so rude to say its not alwys old people you dont put things on here like that that is so disrespectful to people around here bc young pep and middle age people do it 2 it was just an acciedent they didnt know it was going to happen
