Burn Ban Expands
June 29th, 2012 by Joe Burgess
Drew County isn’t under a burn ban, yet, but most other counties ares.
Judge Damon Lampkin urges local residents to use common sense, when burning. Judge Lampkin added “If you start a fire, you are responsible for any damage it does, whether there is a burn ban or not.”
SalineRiverChronicle reports, that the state forestry commission has encouraged all counties to ban the use of fireworks until the burn bans are lifted.

There is no need for a burn ban. Judge Lampkin is correct everyone should use common sense. Banning fireworks hurts the economy which is already struggling. Happy 4th and be safe.
COMMON SENSE?!?!
I JUST DONT BUY THEM FOR MY KIDS WHEN ITS THIS DRY, CAUSE IM NOT BUYING THEM IF THEY CANT USE THEM, AND COMMON SENSE SHOULD TELL YOU ITS TO DRY TO SHOOT THEM!!!!!
LAX is right use common sense when enjoying the 4th. Even though there is no burn ban you can’t do fireworks inside the city limits, you have to shoot them in the county.
To LAX and Fireworks: Are yall gonna go help the firefighters all over the county put out grass and woods fires when they are started by fireworks????
I hope we stay outta burnban for the 4th. As long as u dont b dumb n dont get drunk n b stupid should b ok. I do get wht firefighter means tho!!!!!
banning fireworks only hurts the people selling them setting wildfires hurts everyone and can even kill people just look at colorado we need a burn ban
All to often we see that money trumps safety? A burn ban is the logical response; it’s a responsible decision required by leadership that has the obligation to keep us safe.
When Drew County goes up in smoke, a leader should be held accountable for the risk taken by assuming everyone will “use common sense”. Where’s the risk assessment? Our timber industry, our homes, our wildlife, our firefighters, our children, etc. All of this doesn’t seem to matter when a decision to make money takes center stage. Rules, laws, and guidelines exists because “common sense” is NOT so common. Hindsight will probably sound like this: “What was I thinking?”
A burn ban is what the whole state needs. Y wait until it is too late and all ur stuff or someone else’s stuff has burnt up……not to mentione the danger u put on firefighters and their families. So come on Judge Laozi
Do the rite thing and put a burn ban on b4 Thursday!
