Sophomore quarterback Scott Buisson has been named the Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the University of Arkansas at Monticello football team to a 42-24 win over Missouri S&T on Saturday.

This marks the second consecutive week a UAM player has been given the award. Senior Augustus Ashley won the award last week for his strong defensive play.

Buisson (5-10, 175, Metairie, La.) racked up 403 total offensive yards in Saturday’s win, including 312 yards passing and 91 yards rushing. He completed 20 of 28 passes including four touchdown tosses, while also adding a rushing touchdown to his numbers. This is Buisson’s third career honor after being given the award twice during the 2007 season.

Through two games so far this season, Buisson has racked up 505 passing yards with six touchdowns and 186 yards on the ground with two scores.

“Scott does what Scott does” said fourth-year head coach Gwaine Mathews. “He was one of the most athletic players on the field Saturday…He is so deceptive with the plays he makes that the defense underestimate his athleticism.”
