Branson Comes To Monticello-For Boys & Girls Club-Great Succcess
Published by News Release February 24th, 2008 in Church, Clubs, Entertainment.Sunday night’s event, “Branson Comes to Monticello” seems to have been a great success.
Those attending were welcomed by Monticello’s own Gary Meggs & Ezekiel 3:18, who also performed “God Bless the U.S.A.”, during the military tribute portion of the evening.
Pastor Al Womack, of First Assembly of God Church, which was a sponsor of the event, emceed the show, which included a southern gospel singing group, New Reason, based in New Edinburg.
New Reason’s sang several songs, including “Ain’t that what it’s all about” and “I’ll fly away”.
The “featured attraction” was Jarrett Dougherty, who is the comedian at the Pierce Arrow Theater, in Branson, MO.
He portrayed the character of “Rev. Cecil Watkins” throughout his time on stage, telling stories about his “kin folk”, family, and friends. “Bro. Cecil’s” catch phrases were soon picked up on by the crowd, “Give me a Honolulu”, and such. Dougherty also explained his purpose of sharing a laugh to anyone who may have more burdens than they think they can bear, just by sharing a laugh.
Shown here, Pastor Al presented a check for $4,000 to the board of the Monticello Boys & Girls Club, the benefactor of the event.
During the program, Pastor Al recognized the Veterans who were present, as well as current troops, and family members of the 39th Brigade, who will soon be leaving training, and depart for Iraq.
Representives of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts also came onstage to salute the American Flag.
The event was impressive, and appears to have been an overwhelming success.

Information about Jarrett Dougherty
New Year’s Day, January 1st, 1968—Jarrett’s mother was shootin’ for that brand new washer and dryer “but all she got was me!” Jarrett knew, even at an early age, that he had a special love for music and laughter. “I started playing the drums at age 5 and started traveling on the road with a local gospel group out of our home church when I was in the 6th grade.”
Jarrett’s always loved to laugh and to make people laugh. Of course, he was the class clown in school. At the age of 23, he was the drummer for one of the best southern gospel groups in the country, Jeff and Sheri Easter, and then later he joined the McGruders.
In 1995 Jarrett moved to Branson, which by the way, is only an hour from his hometown, Ava, Missouri. He played the drums and did comedy for the Teddy Bear Lady herself, Barbara Fairchild, for six years. Just before joining the Pierce Arrow Theater, he was with the one and only Sons of the Pioneers.
“I love life and enjoy livin’ every day with my beautiful and awesome wife, Dena, and our two boys, Tyler and Dillon.”
Just when he thought it couldn’t get any better, it did, when Dan Britton asked him if he would like to be the new comedian at the Pierce Arrow Show. “Folks, I’m havin’ a blast! Everybody at the theater is the greatest! I believe laughter is the best medicine a person can have. So even if you are sick, come to Branson and see the Pierce Arrow Show, and me. I promise, you’ll either get well or ‘Die Laughin!”
