Boll Weevil Stampede Rodeo coming up

Rodeo teams from as far away as Michigan and Georgia will converge on the Drew County Fairgrounds March 30-31 for the Boll Weevil Stampede Intercollegiate Rodeo hosted by the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Joining UAM in the competition will be teams from Abraham Baldwin College of Tifton, Ga., Arkansas State, Michigan State, Missouri State, Missouri Valley College, Murray State of Murray, Ky., North Arkansas College, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Southern Arkansas University, Troy University of Alabama, the University of Tennessee-Martin, and the University of West Alabama.

The rodeo begins each night at 7 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults (13 and up) and $5 for children (6-12). Children 5 and under will be admitted free.

Competition will be held in nine events – bareback riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, goat tying, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.
