Board Gives Go Ahead on New Drew Central Elementary Complex
Published by Joe Burgess November 5th, 2007 in Drew Central News. The Drew Central school board, at their last meeting, approved the ongoing effort which will lead to the construction of the new Drew Central Elementary Complex.According to Drew Central superintendent, Mike Reeves, the referendum for the project was approved by Drew County voters last September.
The school board has now approved the sale of $1,860,000 in bonds, in co-operation with the Stephens firm, from Little Rock.
The new Elementary Complex will build 4 needed kindergarten classrooms, an art room, needed administrative office space, as well as an additional kitchen and cafeteria.
The new cafeteria is a key point in the expansion. It’s addition will double the cafeteria seating capacity of the Drew Central campus, and will allow Drew Central students have their noon meal, during a more appropriate time frame.
Currently, Drew Central lunch feeding schedule begins at 10:30 a.m., and continues until 1:30 p.m.
Reeves added that current schedule will have construction start in July, 2008.
