The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team secured its first Gulf South Conference win with a 3-0 sweep over Ouachita Baptist at home.

Final game scores were 25-9, 25-17 and 28-26. The Blossoms improved to 13-8 overall and 1-1 in the GSC, while the Lady Tigers of OBU dropped to 3-15 overall and 0-2 in the GSC.

Junior Mallory Storm (Collinsville, Ill.) led all players with 13 kills and finished the match with a .318 hitting percentage after only committing four errors on 22 total attempts. Junior Jalynn Thornton (Pleasant Grove, Utah) and sophomore Keri Gilbert (San Marcos, Texas) followed closely with nine kills each, while senior Meagan Martin (Burnet, Texas) finished with the best hitting percentage of the match at .667, after racking up four kills from the front row on only six attempts.

UAM out-hit the Lady Tigers in all three games, with a final margin of .276 to OBU’s .057.UAM continues Gulf South Conference play at home on Thursday, October 2, when the team hosts Southern Arkansas for a 7 p.m. match.
