Blossoms Move to 2-1 in GSC With Home Sweep Over SAU
Published by UAM News October 2nd, 2008 in UAM Sports.The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team moved to 2-1 in Gulf South Conference play after defeating the Lady Riders of Southern Arkansas by final scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-19 on Thursday night.
Juniors Jalynn Thornton (Pleasant Grove, Utah) and Cayla Knapp (South Lake Tahoe, Calif.) led the Blossoms with nine kills each. Knapp had a match-high .667 hitting percentage after only committing one error on 12 total attempts.
Junior Mallory Storm (Collinsville, Ill.) followed closely with seven kills and a .333 hitting percentage after only committing two errors on 15 attempts.
Sophomore Stephanie Hatten (Baytown,Texas) led the defense with nine digs, while also racking up four service aces.
With the win, UAM improves to 14-8 overall, while SAU drops to 7-11 overall and remains winless in the GSC record category at 0-3.
The Blossoms have the weekend off, returning to GSC play on Tuesday, October 7 with a 7 p.m. match against Harding in Searcy, Ark.
