Blossoms’ Brady honored as GSC PoTW
Published by UAM News April 20th, 2007 in UAM Sports.University of Arkansas at Monticello junior pitcher Kate Brady (Jr., Longview, Texas) has been named Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 15. Brady’s honor marks the sixth time that a UAM player has earned weekly conference honors this season.

While Brady posted a 1-1 mark at the Gulf South Conference Crossover, the one win was crucial as she picked up a complete game victory over #5 Valdosta State, allowing four hits, fanning six and allowing three unearned runs; giving UAM a much-needed in-region and conference win to close out the crossover.
“Kate’s pitching has been solid all season long,” said Cotton Blossoms head coach Alvy Early. “The offense has picked up most of the recognition, and Kate has been a big part of that as well, but what she’s been able to do for us with her pitching this year, consistently improving along the way, has been invaluable.”
Brady becomes the first Blossoms player to be named conference pitcher of the week this season, following two player of the week awards apiece by Becca Tipton (Fr., Dermott, Ark.), Jenny Dunn (Jr., Adelaide, Australia), and one award by Meredith Heckel (Jr., Hot Springs, Ark.).
The Cotton Blossoms return to action on Saturday, April 21, hosting Arkansas Tech University in a Gulf South Conference doubleheader. First pitch from Blossoms Field is set for 1 p.m.
