Although the mercy rule was invoked in the game Friday night, Monticello received none from Pulaski Academy, being defeated 61-33. It took less than a minute to score the first time, making it 6-0, after a bobbled snap for the extra point. The Bruins powered their way to a 48-13 halftime lead. D.J Washington came up big for Monticello, with touchdown runs of 64 and 62 yards in the first half alone.

Monticello (5-5) plays at Greenwood next Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Pulaski Academy (9-1) will host Siloam Springs.
