Lt. Rick Rausch of the Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. credits the quick thinking of the staff of Commercial Bank’s branch on HWY 425 South, as the primary factor that led to the same day arrest of a man accused of stealing 6 paychecks (totaling over $5,700) from a local business.
The checks were stolen from D. H. Forest Trucking between 8 p.m. Thursday night and 8 a.m. Friday morning.
Marquell Daniels, age 20, was arrested by Lt. Rausch around 1:30 Friday, after a short investigation which pointed the crime to Daniels.
Rausch credits the banking staff for providing the vehicle’s license plate number, which led to the quick apprehension of Daniels.
One of the six checks has been recovered. The investigation continues for the remaining checks.
