Waterfowl habitat conditions vary widely across Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK – From one extreme to the other, habitat conditions varied widely across the state. The Arkansas River Valley is extremely dry while northeast Arkansas is extremely wet in many locations and dry in others. Biologists from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission completed their first aerial waterfowl survey of the season last week and found that conditions were all over the weather map. Reservoir on Petit Jean River WMA won’t hold water
DANVILLE – The Santa Fe Greentree Reservoir on Yell County’s Petit Jean River Wildlife Management Area will not be flooded this waterfowl season because of a water-control problem.

LITTLE ROCK - Duck hunting opens in Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 17, thousands of waterfowlers in the state will buy federal and state duck stamps, if they didn’t get them for the earlier teal season.

COLUMBUS – The recent growth around Arkansas in shotgun competition has spurred an expansion of shooting facilities at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Rick Evans/Grandview Prairie Conservation Education Center.
