An Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife officer was injured over the weekend during a shootout with a man suspected of illegal hunting. Wildlife officer Matt Flowers, 29, of Maumelle was shot once in the chest during an altercation with a man Flowers suspected of illegally hunting in North Little Rock’s Burns Park.
For second time in three months, commissioners from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be holding their monthly meeting at night. On Nov. 15, the meeting will be held in Jonesboro at the Forrest L. Wood Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center beginning at 6 p.m.
Again this duck season, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be offering a limited number of Steve N. Wilson Raft Creek Bottoms Wildlife Management Area hunting permits for an online draw. There will be six “holes” available for online draw including one mobility-impaired accessible blind.
Arkansas trappers will see some ups and downs in the prices of various furs this year because of market fluctuations in the international fur trade and clothing industries.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has added black carp to the list of injurious fish under the Lacey Act. This action will prohibit live black carp, gametes, viable eggs and hybrids from being imported into or transported between the continental United States.
