Andrea Thomas Named 2009 Health Hero of the Year for DMH
December 29th, 2009 by DMH
Andrea Thomas was named 2009 DMH Health Hero of the Year. Andrea Thomas was honored at the Drew Memorial Hospital Annual Christmas party in front of approximately 80 people. Andrea received a $600 cash award ($200 coming from our four (4) local banks), a dozen red roses, a beautifully engraved clear glass trophy and a standing ovation!
Andrea was selected from eleven other monthly Health Hero’s honored monthly at the DMH board meetings. While providing home health services to a patient she found he had no one to give daily care. She took upon herself to assist this man visiting daily to provide personal care, food, cleaning supplies and cleaning his home; after 3 months or so he moved to a nursing home – she still visits. Each month, the Health Hero is awarded $100 dollars and a parking place, real close to the hospital. In addition, to Andrea, each of our monthly Health Hero’s should also be recognized for their contributions” going over and beyond the call of duty” and “providing a service with no thought of personal gain”.
Andrea Thomas’ statemement after winning the award was, “ I am very excited to have received this award! I enjoy being able to help those who are in need of assistance in Home Health. I feel truly blessed to be a part of a great Home Health team and hospital. “
