The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold a public meeting in Lake Village to discuss plans for improvements to Highways 65 and 82, according to AHTD officials.
     The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 6th, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Village Fire Station, 2017 Highways 65 & 82, in Lake Village.
     At the meeting, participants will see alternative routes for the improvements to Highway 65/82 beginning at the Arkansas Welcome Center in Lake Village, continuing southward through Fairview, then eastward on Highway 82 to the Mississippi River Bridge.  Seven alternatives were considered, including widening along the existing highway.  Widening the existing highway to five lanes has been identified as the Preferred Alternative.
     More detailed design information will be on display for the western portion of the proposed project.  Another meeting will be held at a later date to present design information for the section from Fairview to the Mississippi River Bridge.
