After the Storm: Disaster Relief and Recovery Efforts Are Underway
Published by Joe Burgess February 7th, 2008 in Weather. As you probably know, areas in north Arkansas were hit by several tornados Tuesday night causing severe damage. We at the Arkansas Baptist State Convention want you to know that Disaster Relief feeding and recovery units have been sent to the following communities:
Atkins
Clinton
Cleveland
Mountain View
Gassville
Ash Flat/Highland
Melbourne
Hundreds of volunteers, are helping meet the needs of the people in these communities by providing meals and assisting with clean up.
How can you help?
There are three areas where God can use you:
1. Prayer
We are asking you to pray with us for the people in these communities and to also pray for the Disaster Relief efforts. Also pray for the opportunity to share Christ with hurting people. Some people have lost everything due to the storms and they are looking for answers in this difficult time. Specifically pray for the affected areas, lost loved ones, and homes that were destroyed.
2. GIVE
If you feel led to donate to the Disaster Relief and Recovery Efforts, we have a website set up for online giving on our homepage http://www.absc.org/
3. GO
We are currently making a list of people who are willing to volunteer time and personal resources. If you would like more information on how to help, please call the Missions Ministries Team toll free in Arkansas at 1-800-838-2272.

I have been told by a number of my students, and local residents of Monticello that tornadoes don’t strike Monticello for a variety of reasons. This is just another case of misinformation.

My question is - why doesn’t Monticello have a warning siren?
