More than 250 rodeo cowboys and cowgirls from 14 colleges and universities will compete at the eighth annual Boll Weevil Stampede hosted by the University of Arkansas at Monticello March 6-8.

This Ford super duty pick up truck was reported stolen and wrecked early Sunday morning.
It was wrecked, but was not stolen, according to reports from the Drew County sheriffs department.

The City of Monticello held their first of four “Our Place” town hall meetings, Thursday night, hosted by assistant to the Mayor for planning, Zach Tucker.
A total of 9 folks attended the meeting, 4 from the TEA party, Tucker, a county employee from Ward 2, and 2 city hall staff, who were signing in attendees (both live in Ward 2), MLive.
The 40 minute presentation dealt with planning and vision concepts.
The discussion, which lasted over an hour, was unexpectedly open to all. The TEA party members and MLive, as well as others made the most of the opportunity to discuss the “SWOT” (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) to our area.
The Drew Memorial Hospital Board of Directors voted unanimously this morning to extend the job offer of CEO of our local hospital “Candidate One” , during a special called meeting.

A copy of the Monticello High School Master Schedule (Draft) for 2014-15 is posted on the MHS website for the parents and students consideration. Students will enter requests for classes in April through the HAC (Home Access Center) which links directly with eSchoolPlus, per MHS Principal, Jim Lucas.
Local businesses apart of the university’s Student Government Weevil Perks Program offer students, faculty, and staff big discounts. This week businesses will begin to proudly display their official member decals, indicating that they support the university and the Monticello community.
Last week, Brown pled guilty to three separate felony counts of second-degree forgery, a count of abuse of office.

We weren’t asked to vote on the DHS budget that includes the private option insurance plan this week because no agreement could be reached. It is believed by some that the chances for the vote to improve will come after the filing period ends.
