A Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Class will be offered starting Tuesday, September 22 at 6 p.m. in the Education Wing at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, corner of Hyatt and Jefferson streets.
“We invite persons with no religious background who are interested in becoming Christians or those who have backgrounds in other Christian denominations and would like to learn more about Roman Catholicism to join us,” Don Stephan, class leader, said. He noted practicing Catholics who would like to study the faith from an adult perspective are also invited to sit in on the class sessions.

The Billies Cross Country team competed in the Los Toritos Invitational this past weekend in Star City. Joining over ten other schools from Southeast Arkansas, the Billies punished the competition both mentally and physically, running good times and leaving with some hardware.
The JR Billies finished 1st overall edging out Star City.

Slemons Ch. 977 of the United Daughters of Confederacy had four members attend the 120th Annual Arkansas Division Convention at the Holiday Inn Presidential Hotel in Little Rock, AR, Sept. 24-26, 2015. Market in the Park will open for a special evening event from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 with vendors, demonstrations, and special entertainment. Market in the Park Board will offer soups for sale that evening. Pie pumpkins and pumpkins from Milo Farms are now available. Vendors offer a variety of products from muscadines to greens to baked goods to jewelry to jams and jellies to eggs to beadwork to lotions and soaps.
