Murder Suspect Changes Plea in Ashley County Case, Set for Court in Monticello

According to Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Deen, at the March 6 pre-trial hearing in the Mark Johnson murder case, Johnson’s attorney, Jim Wyatt, announced that Johnson was changing his plea to not guilty by reason of mental disease. The hearing was held at the Drew County courthouse, after a change of venue from Ashley County.
Circuit Judge Don Glover ordered the proceedings suspended, pending receipt of a mental evaluation of Johnson. The trial in the case, scheduled to begin March 26, was continued.

Ashley County Capital Murder Trial Moved to Drew County

According to AshleyCountyLedger.com, Tenth Judicial District Circuit Judge Don Glover granted a change of venue motion for Mark David Johnson, who is accused of two counts of capital murder, one count of attempted capital murder, and one count aggravated assault.
The charges stem from a double fatality accident on Highway 52 in North Crossett on Oct. 6, 2010.
