MPD Arrests $28,000 Identity Theft Suspect

According to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, MPD Detectives working with other state and local law enforcement agencies have arrested a man in connection with a sophisticated, multi-jurisdictional theft operation.
Monticello Detectives have charged James Ward, age 65, of Mississippi with after determining a Polaris side by side valued at approximately $28,000 was obtained using fraudulent credentials at a local dealership.
MPD, working with other agencies who were investigating similar incidents, developed Ward as a suspect and was able to make the arrest on the Monticello theft during the course of another theft attempt in Arkansas.
MPD encourages citizens to be aware of identity theft, learn prevention methods and if criminal activity is suspected, call MPD and discuss your concerns with Officers or Detectives.
