July 31st, 2019 by

Monticello High School was awarded a grant of $3,000.00 from Clearwater Paper for its new school based enterprise. A school-based enterprise (SBE) is a set of entrepreneurial activities undertaken by students that provides an economic, social, and educational return to the student,
school, and community. SBEs provide realistic and practical learning experiences that reinforce classroom instruction. The Monticello High School SBE will sell to consumers through a point of sale system which will be known as “The Goat Shop”.
The Goat Shop will provide school spirit wear including hats, shirts, ties, socks, bags, cups, and other various items. The point of sale system that will be used includes a scanner, credit card swipe, and cash drawer along with software for inventory with a touch screen menu similar to local retail businesses. The students will house and keep inventory for the on campus shop as well as “pop-up” shops at school sporting events and local attractions.
