Local Man Killed in Early Morning Collision

A 43-year-old Monticello man lost his life around 5:25, Monday morning, in a two vehicle collision on HWY 425, near the Lincoln / Drew County line.
According to reports from the scene, Keith Perrigen, the driver of a southbound Hyundai, cross the center line, then collided with a northbound medical van.
Perrigen was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the medical van was airlifted by Pafford Air Ambulance to UAMS in Little Rock.
Arkansas State Police worked the fatality scene, assisted by Drew and Lincoln County deputies.
The Star City rescue team extricated both victims.
Traffic on HWY 425 was blocked briefly, at times during the early morning traffic, but slowed for a couple hours due to the cleanup.

That hwy really needs reflectors or rumble strips cut into the center lane. I drive from Monticello to Pine Bluff every day and have seen many unfortunate accidents, including this one. Prayers for Mr. Perrigens’s family and to the family of the van driver.
Keith was my neighbor—I just found out about it a little while ago–he would have only been less than 2 miles from home–yes the hwy dept needs to put wake up strips at the intersection–coming over the hill one can’t see in time to stop if someone is turning on Mt Zion Rds or pulling out—I live just above where Keith lived & there is a very dangerous stretch of 425 going south from the country line–I’ve had more mailboxes wiped out than I can count–had a semi run through my yard in the middle of the nite but the hwy dept ignores anyone asking for something to be done. Keith’s family needs prayers as this will be a rough time for them—
Keith was like a brother to our family. He will surely be missed. Rest easy keith. We love ya buddy.
MASI worked this wreck. They responded when the 911 phone rang. They stabilized the patient in the van and co-ordinated the air lift with Pafford Air.
