Shoplifting Fisherman Triples Troubles by Impersonating his Neighbor

Recently we ran a story, posted below, about two Little Rock who men were reportedly shoplifting fishing gear from Walmart, and then arrested near Lake Monticello. That story has recently taken a very unusual twist.
Both men admitted to shoplifting the items, and bonded out of jail until their schedule court date.
But as word spread about the arrest, one of the names in the report drew special attention: Mr. Lawson (see below) wasn’t in Monticello at the time, wasn’t arrested, and certainly wasn’t shoplifting at Walmart on the day in question.
It seems that a former neighbor of Lawson, when he realized he was in trouble, told police that “he was who he wasn’t” – a case of criminal impersonation.
Randy Edwards, (probably not a current friend of Lawson) now faces criminal impersonation charges, as well as the shoplifting charges, that he tried to blame on his former neighbor.

Going Fishing (Even if It Gets Me Put in Jail)

Saturday, June 14 was a good day for fishing; at least that is what 2 Little Rock men thought, as they went into the Monticello Walmart to shoplift 2 fishing poles with reels, several fishing lures, a tent, and a bag of dog food.
A Monticello Police officer responded to Walmart’s complaint, quickly deduced the suspects likely planned activity for the afternoon, and notified a Drew County Sheriff’s deputy to watch for the vehicle (a black Lincoln Navigator).
Shortly thereafter, the deputy stopped the vehicle on HWY 425 North, near Lake Monticello, and the MPD officer arrived to confirm it was the correct suspects, before taking them into custody.
Robert Stout (age 29) and Jarrod Brice Lawson (age 22) both of Little Rock were then arrested, admitted to shoplifting the items, and bonded out of jail until their schedule court date.
