Nugent Files as Republican Mayoral Candidate

The Drew County Republican Party unanimously selected Dave Nugent as its candidate in the upcoming special election for mayor of Monticello.
Nugent who filed Monday morning, will run as a Republican in the June special election to complete the term of the late Monticello Mayor Allen Maxwell and, because of the rules involved, Nugent will run as an Independent in the November General Election for the upcoming four-year term.
A 1996 graduate of Dewitt High School and 2012 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Nugent served 11 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He now serves in the Naval Reserve and is a member of the Military Honors Plus Honor Guard.
“We feel Dave Nugent is fully qualified to step into the mayoral position in Monticello and has the knowledge, energy and drive it will take to keep the town of Monticello running smoothly and in the right direction for all its residents,” said Diana Harton, chairman of the Drew County Republican Party.
