Up To 600 Acres Destroyed by Wildfire

September 19th, 2013 by

At 8 PM, Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober told MonticelloLive.com that the fire seems to now be mostly contained, with the estimated acreage damaged due to the wildfire, reaching up to 600 acres.
According to reports, only one structure, believe to be a deer camp, has been lost due to the fire.
Sveral local fire departments, including many volunteer departments, help battle the blaze, throughout the afternoon, from it start near Tennessee Spur and 10 Mile Creek Road, south of Highway 278, west of Monticello.

So thankful for all the fire crews. This fire got REALLY close to my uncle’s home and my brother’s home on S. Allis Road. From what I can gather it must have gotten to within a couple of hundred yards. It burned an old barn across the road. But the fire crews protected all the homes in the community. My family is all home safe and sound now. Thank you, God for the answered prayers! And thank you to those who fought the fires.
