Parks Committee Discusses Charging Fees to Reserve Pavillions & Amphitheater

The Amphitheater at McCloy Park is still under construction because of unexpected architectural challenges. Rickey Calhoun gave a statement on the progress of the project and stated there was not a tentative completion date at this time.

A discussion soon began dealing with reservations , and/or exclusive reservations, of the pavilions and amphitheatre. Another interesting topic that brought out a considerable amount of committee member opinions was if a fee should be charged for reserving city facilities, but no decision was reached.

Here we go again, asking for more money from its citizens who are already burdened to the limit of their limited income ,

In are recent election there were several items regarding tax increases for various reasons. HOW MUCH More do you want from us. When is it going to stop? It would not surprise me to hear that a fee would be charged for walking through the town square or for parking on city streets, sounds rediculous but lets wait and see what is in store for us next, and we wonder why people are moving from our town?

I agree Leslie everybody wants our hard earned $$$$$$$. Pay to use something is different, but for all the children has has enjoyed having their birthday parties at one of our parks pavillions is STUPID!!!! Because that might be the only thing some parents can get for their child to enjoy their birthday….. I bet when the PUBLIC SCHOOLS FROM ALL AROUND WANT TO COME TO DREW COUNTY TO SHARE THIS BEAUTIFUL PARKS AND HAVE TO PAY,,,, GUESS WHAT I HOPE THEY GO TO HAMBURG OR WARREN OR EVEN LAKE VILLAGE BECAUSE THOSE TOWNS AREN’T CHARGING FOR A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR THEIR ONE YEAR OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see charge like $20 for the use of the Amphitheater but even that we alllllll pay TAXES SO DON’T CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
