DTF, MPD, Parole/Probation Make Drug Bust Near Park

According to Lt. Jason Akers of the Tenth Drug Task Force, Task Force Agents, along with the Monticello Police Department and Officers from the Arkansas Department of Community Punishment, executed a search warrant at the residence of Tyricus McCoy, age 23, of Monticello last week.
Pursuant to the search warrant, Agents located high grade marijuana, scales used for weighing marijuana as well as stolen and defaced firearms. Agents also seized over $1,300.00 in cash.
According to Akers, one of the firearms located was stolen in Monticello out of a vehicle and the other firearm, which had a defaced serial number, is being sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for analysis to attempt to recover the serial number to determine its origin.
The residence was within sight of a local park, which may carry an enhancement on some of the criminal charges.
McCoy was charged with Possession of marijuana with purpose (to deliver), Possession of drug paraphernalia, Theft by Receiving, and Possession of a defaced firearm. He received a bond 3,500.00
Why did he get such a small bond? He should have, at least gotten a one million dollar bond. If we keep doing things like this, we will NEVER end the drug Epidemic. :(

..I watch alot of T.V. –jmo..Low bond so he’ll get out and lead them to where he got the dope….maybe. Have to ask the Judge why the bonds are so low.
Funny how everyone forgets prohibition fuels illegal activity, increases demand and today overcrowds our prisons. Further, the penalty for drug crimes is often steeper than for rape or murder, for instance. A drug felony keeps you from getting food stamps and bars professional achievements many times whereas other crimes, that victimize innocent people more, do not. Not sure the answer to the hard drug question is legalization, but I do believe this focus on lockin’ ’em up and throwin’ ‘way the key is the answer either. Wish people could see a little more clearly and actually think about it.
