2 Teenagers Arrested after 97 MPH Race in a 45 MPH Zone, near 425/278, SaturdayMay 7th, 2013 by Joe Burgess
Around 1 am, Saturday, local police agencies met briefly on a local parking lot to discuss patrol routes, when they were interrupted by the blur of a Dodge Challenger and a Dodge Charger racing from the Walgreens stop-light, on HWY 278, past Dollar General.
“97 MPH” registered on one radar screen, as officers pulled out to stop the vehicles.
The Dodge Challenger pulled into Browning Drive, followed by a State Trooper and a DCSO Deputies.
The Dodge Charger soon turned in at Crackerbox on HWY 278 West, stopped by other Drew County Sheriff’s deputies.
Both drivers were arrested and transported to the Drew County Detention Facility.
Jerry Lee Marshall, of Rison, age 19, was charged with DWI, possession by a minor, racing and speeding.
DeCorey Brown, of Morningouin, LA, also age 19, faces reckless driving, possession by a minor, racing, speeding and no proof of insurance
Reliable Towing and Rod’s Wrecker took possession of the vehicles.
