4 Mayors Attend Groundbreaking at New Whaley Fire StationNovember 30th, 2012 by Joe Burgess
After 12 years, the groudbreaking was held Thursday morning at the old W. C. Whaley school property for the new Monticello Central Fire Station.
Former mayors Harold West, David Anderson, and Joe Rogers were welcomed by current mayor, Allen Maxwell; all 4 mayors were a part of the history of this ongoing project, that is finally becoming a reality.
The new fire station will have 3 60 x 15 ft. bays, and will be large enough to house the new tanker truck and the ladder truck; both are too large to fit into the current central station.
The existing parking lot will remain, with the station having a truck entrance on the north side of the building. Fire trucks will exit the facility from the south, facing Church St. by entering Wood St.
