3 Men Arrested on Drug Charges at Monticello Parking Lot
According to Lt Jason E. Akers of the Tenth Drug Task Force, three Dumas men are facing felony charges after being arrested by Task Force Agents in Monticello last week.
According to Akers, Jasus Robinson, age 26, of Dumas, Edmond Smith, age 26 of Gould, and Calvin Owens, age 36, of Dumas, were arrested at a gas station parking lot, after Task Force Agents received information the men were transporting cocaine in their vehicle.
As Task Force Agents approached the vehicle, one of the men began reaching under the seat of the vehicle as though to shove something under the seat. Task Force Agents got the men out of the vehicle and a subsequent search resulted in one bag that contained approximately one ounce of suspected crack cocaine, a bag of white powder believed to be cocaine that weighed apprximately 3/4 of an ounce, and a separate bag that contained a small amount of marijuana and crack cocaine. Task Force Agents also recovered loaded firearms from the vehicle, with one of the firearms having a defaced serial number.
After the suspects were transported to the Drew County Jail by Monticello Police, the patrol vehicle was searched and another bag of suspected cocaine was located stuffed in the seat of the vehicle.
All three men were taken before Monticello District Judge Kenneth Harper where they received bonds ranging from $25,000 to $100,000.
