2nd DWI-Drugs Charges Likely for Big-Rig Driver after Crossing into Wrong Lane Dozen Times

February 20th, 2014 by

imageWednesday morning around 11:15, 911 calls begin coming into Monticello dispatch reporting a loaded chip truck driving erratically on HWY 425 S., repeatedly crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic and for shoulder, even in curves and on hills.
Drew County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched from their locations around the county. The first deputy to arrive found the big rig again traveling on the wrong side of the road, as other Deputies quickly approached.
Mathey Dykes, age 55 of Crossett, pulled over just south of the Ashley / Drew County line. When Dykes stepped out of the truck, he reportedly opened its hood (complaining that it would not start), staggering and almost falling as he walked.
Ashley County deputies, familiar with Dykes, also responded, in case they were needed.
According to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, Dykes was arrested and charged with DWI-drugs and careless driving. He bonded out of jail later Wednesday afternoon.
Dykes reportedly has been charged with DWI-drugs previously.

  1. CDL says:

Sounds to me CDL should be taken away before someone innocent is killed by this guy.

  2. Mary Ann says:

If Mr. Dykes’ license to drive is not taken from him this time, the Judge needs to be charged with reckless homicide right along with Mr. Dykes when Mr. Dykes kills someone with his actions. Mr. Dykes made the choice to drive that rig while he was drunk. It was his choice to get drunk. He obviously cannot make good choices and needs his license revoked even if this is his livelihood – there are consequences to bad choices and decisions.

  3. Schenk says:

    CDL should be pulled, automatically.

  4. Holly says:

This guy makes truck drivers look bad. My husband is a driver for a big rig company and he would not even think to be so careless. SMH He should NEVER be allowed to drive any vehicle ever again.
