This award went to a deserving young man. Regardless of his physical condition, with pain or injuries, Nicky was always prepared and willing to play. Where some athletes would ask to sit out or play less, Nicky would play through any aches and pains he had. He gave 110% effort every game and was a role model on and off the court. His good sportsmanship and simple desire to play the game to the best of his abilities, while encouraging his teammates to better themselves, has been one of the many driving factors of Drew Central’s success during his time as a player. It is infectious and can be seen in many of his teammates. Drew Central will miss Nicky, as it will all the other players leaving the campus at the end of the school year. I feel blessed to have been able to watch this young man’s growth as a player and a person over the years. I would hope others at Drew Central and surrounding schools would emulate Nicky’s desire, attitude and determination in the classroom and when competing in sports; while working toward their goals beyond high school. Congratulations, and may the years ahead be just as rewarding and bright for you as your years spent at Drew Central. As a fan and an Alumnus, I thank you for dedication and hard work you have given of yourself while attending Drew Central. May God guide and direct you along your long journey that you are about to embark on as high school ends and college and beyond follows….your journey through life itself.
