According to Monticello Mayor Jason Akers, City Hall will be receiving a makeover starting this week.
The 90 year old concrete area in front of City Hall has been the scene of many trips and falls during both inclement and dry weather due to the cracks, holes and uneven spots.
The City has removed the old concrete and is working to replace it, while adding new LED lighting and an area to house a granite bench.
The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) held its fall commencement exercises on Friday, December 13, in the Steelman Field House. Dr. Peggy Doss, chancellor of UAM, recognized graduates completing academic credentials ranging from master’s degrees to technical certificates during the ceremony. (more…)
New Year’s Eve, Monticello fire department and Monticello police department responded to the call of a man on fire, on the 1000 area of Shelton Street.
Sources from the scene report that a man was throwing accelerants onto a burn barrel fire, when they ignited and caught his clothes on fire.
SEEMS responded and transported the burn victim to Baptist Drew. It is not believed that his injuries were life-threatening.
