2012 Family Fun Fest, Huge Success
May 9th, 2012 by Monticello Schools
The 2012 Family Fun Fest on April 28 at McCloy Park in Monticello was a huge success. Over 900 parents, children and volunteers attended the event. The event was hosted by Preschool and Headstart programs from Monticello, Drew Central, Hamburg, Crossett, Warren and McGehee. Also working with the event were UAM, UAM-McGehee campus, HIPPY, AR Dept. of Health and Ameri-Corp volunteers.
Family Fun Fest highlights many activities experienced during Arkansas Children’s Week. Highlights of the event included a visit from the Air-Evac helicopter, Monticello Police Department, Monticello Fire Department and ambulance services. There were many booths set up across the park which gave children the opportunity to explore through science experiments, storytelling, music, family portraits, train rides, bouncy jumpers and many other fun activities. Lunch was served to all of the attendees and door prizes were given out as well.
Special thanks are given to Dr. C. Morrell Jones of UAM for helping make this event a success. A thank you is also given to the generous donors who provided door prizes and money to help make this event successful.
