Around 10 p.m. Friday night, the driver of this HHR lost control of his vehicle, as he was traveling west on HWY 278, 2 miles east of Monticello.
The vehicle left the roadway, traveling sideways around 100 feet, before crossing a driveway and becoming airborne.
Across the driveway, the HHR struck a tree, most likely with the lower part of the driver’s door panel, before coming to a stop.
Arkansas State Trooper Matt Outlaw worked the wreck, assisted by two other troopers.
The original call came in as a “trapped in vehicle”, so the fire and rescue teams responded, along with Monticello Police, and Drew County Sheriff’s Dept.
MASI transported the driver (who was standing and talking to bystanders at the scene), and Triple A towed the HHR.

No one needed medical attention. The Monticello Police Dept. worked the accident. J.A.Goad towed the Chrysler.
Traffic in one lane was blocked, while the other lanes continued to carry the after-school traffic.
The 2 horses inside of the trailer remained calm, and were un-injured.

Around 8 o’clock this morning, the driver of a state highway dept. truck attempted a U-turn on HWY 425 North at the Circle Acres intersection, causing the dump trucks trailer, along with the front-end-loader it was hauling to overturn, blocking one lane of HWY 425 closing any turning traffic.
Sand was used to clean up the spillage. Monticello Police responded, and the vehicle will be removed by the AHTD, upon arrival of a larger truck from Pine Bluff.
The road re-opened around 9 a.m.

When thinking of adding a dog to your family, many question if adoption is as good of a choice as buying from a breeder or a pet store. Often times concerns about the dog’s behavior, ability to adjust to home life, and general temperament are expressed to me from those considering adopting one of our rescue dogs. These are all very valid concerns, no matter where you are searching for your new family member. To help those curious about dog adoption learn a little more in regards to how “pound puppies” fit into families, I thought sharing a few of the numerous emails from adoptive families would be helpful.
