A “swearing-in” ceremony will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Drew County Courtroom for all officials elected or reelected in the May or November elections.

The No. 5 University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team was defeated 72-69 by Texas A&M-Commerce on the final day of St. Edward’s Hilltopper Holiday Classic, giving the Weevils its second

Sophomore Erika Brown nailed a three-point attempt as time expired to give the University of Arkansas at Monticello a 64-61 win over North Alabama in UNA’s Marriot Shoals Classic Tuesday night.

Tax year 2008 is quickly nearing an end. The Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers to avoid putting off important financial tasks until the last minute. The important deadline of Dec. 31 is fast approaching for many tax-planning issues.

Drew County trash routes will not be run Thursday, January 1, because it is a holiday. Thursday AND Friday routes will be run on Friday.
Monticello City trash routes will not run Thursday, and will resume regular routes on Friday.

The No. 5 University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, a 79-59 loss to St. Edwards University in the Hilltopper Holiday Classic.

Senior Andrea Dubose scored 19 points and recorded six steals in a 71-54 win over Alabama-Huntsville in the opening day of North  Alabama’s Marriot Shoals Classic.
