“20 For The Future” Meeting Report

Monticello’s “20 for the Future” group met Friday afternoon at the UAM Gibson Center.

Items discussed included:

Summary of advertising expenses incurred in the recent sales tax election.

Helping to underwrite a portion of the expenses involved in the grant application process for the Ridgeway Hotel Project.

Election of 2008 officers, including David Dickson as president, Tommy Maxwell as vice president, and George Harris as secretary

Drew Memorial Hospital’s new Chief Financial Officer, Shannon Clark was present, and was introduced to the group.  Ms. Clark provided a detailed report explaining in depth the need for revitalization of the hospital resources.

The group also discussed their plans for a return trip to Washington, D.C., to lobby for more grant money to be funded for the needs of southeast Arkansas, specifically Monticello.

The results of their last trip became apparent with the signing of the omnibus funding bill that was recently signed by President Bush.
