18 Wheeler Wreck Shuts Down All 5 Lanes of 425 North
Around 5:30 Thursday morning, the 18 wheeler shown here, belonging to Caldwell Milling Company of Rose Bud, AR, failed to stop at the intersection of HWY 425 North and “the new HWY 35″, just north of Monticello.
The tractor trailer skidded across the intersection, and completely crossed into the eastern ditch.
The Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. and Monticello Police Dept. were both on the scene. Ttiple A provided the towing service
Traffic was blocked in both directions for approximately an hour, while the truck and trailer were wenched back into the roadway.

THERE IS A REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS INTERSECTION.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME SOME ONE HAS FAILED TO STOP. WE HAVE JUST BEEN LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS COMING DOWN 425 AT THE SAME TIME. I ONLY PRAY THAT NO ONE
EVER GETS KILLED THERE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO PREVENT THIS .
Didn’t we have some bad accidents recently just up the road?
Seems like the accidents have only moved a few feet.
There’s bad mojo on that road.
There needs to be more warning signs and some lights I miss my turn all the time cause it’s so dark out there.I hope they do something soon with school starting.
the only problem is that people drive way to fast down the new road and they dont pay attion to the sings. I live close to the intersection and i always see people making U turns and speeding after theyve made the turn. If people would just use cation when travling down a new road there wouldnt be as big as problem as there is.
Slow down, pay attention. It is a clear intersection. Theres nothing dangerous about it other than drivers not paying attention.
the highway dept needs to put some warning signs there is a stop ahead & some of those things that make noise as you run across them like over at Pansy where the highway insects (they were finally installed after a horriable wreck over there) that what they need here & if you go on that part of the highway you know its got to intersect with another road somewhere!!! there is suppose to be a speed limit also but there are sure a lot of speeders all around these highways. I live on 425 N & what I see come by my house is a lot of speeding & reckless driving. I waa held up in the traffic going southbound when they were pulling the 18 wheeler out of the ditch!!! some one will get killed at that intersection on of these days if folks don’t slow down & pay attention to where they are going!!!!!!
there is no need for 5 million warning signs, once you hit that curve you can very visibly see that there is a road ahead with traffic going in opposite directions!!! if people would just pay attention!!
I haven’t been around in a while. I drove on the new road once since it was put in. Is there one of those big yellow signs across hwy 425 from where the new road comes out that has arrows in both directions? When I drove the road, it was dark and I remember, even though I saw signs saying “stop” ahead, it didn’t feel or look like a major intersection of two state highways coming up (like what’s on the other end in Rye.
Just a thought
Oh shoot, nevermind, there IS an arrow sign. I see it in one of the pictures above.
