$150,000 Bond Set for Shooting Suspect from June

In a case making its way through the Drew County circuit court system, minutes before midnight on May 27, MPD received a report of a domestic incident involving a firearm, where a male had reportedly shot at a female, multiple times, choking her and holding the firearm to her head, at a HWY 425 South apartment.
Officers quickly arrived, where the suspect had reportedly last been seen by the victim. The apartment was searched by officers, it was confirmed that her 9 mm handgun was believed to be in the possession of the suspect, Lucas Lorenzo Thompson, age 31 of Monticello.
The victim stated that Thompson had shot at her twice, after twice putting the gun against her head and threatening to kill her.
Shortly after midnight, dispatch reported that the victim had again called 911, reporting that Thompson was trying to get inside her appointment and threatening her kill her.
MPD officers and a DCSO deputy arrived immediately, to arrest and disarm him. During the struggle, Thompson told one of the officers that the firearm was concealed in his waistband. During the struggle to get Thompson onto the ground, he continue to ignore officers commands to put his hands behind his back, as they smelled the odor of intoxicants coming from him. Officers also found an empty liquor bottle in his back left pocket, and Thompson admitted to being intoxicated to the officers.
Officers then contacted the victim, who had barricaded herself inside her apartment. The recovered firearm was confirmed to be loaded with one in the barrel, and ready to fire.
Thompson was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated assault on a family member, public intoxication, carrying a weapon, domestic battery- 3rd degree, and resisting arrest.
His bond was set at $150,000 by District Judge Bruce Anderson, and he is still being detained in the Drew County jail.
