Monticello’s 13th annual Christmas Parade, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, was Tuesday night at 6:00. In spite of rain during the day, skies cleared to allow large crowds to view almost 50 different floats and entries for the evening’s event. With special visits by the Grinch, Ronald McDonald, Santa Claus, and multiple appearances by Jesus, the evening culminated in a fireworks show at McCloy Park.

Awards were given in the religious , business, and non-profit categories. In the religious category, Living Word Church placed first; Pilgrim’s Rest AME Church, second; and Shady Grove Baptist Church received third place. In the business category, Drew Foam placed first; H&R Block, second; and Commercial Bank received third place. 4H placed first in the non-profit category; Monticello Preschool, second; and Monticello Elementary School placed third.
